Soles4Souls Shoe Drop

Holy moly!  We got so caught up in the cookbook craziness that we forgot to tell about our shoe drop in early August.  Hiking boots, running shoes, loafers & stillettos–Soles4Souls can either use them as is or give them new life and send them around the world.  We found a funky place in a strip mall that looked like an old fashioned shoe repair shop, but once inside it became apparent this was no old man’s wing tip store.  There were original, hand made shoes for daring women, fashion forward men, and daring men who want to be fashion forward women.  One corner was piled high with shoes waiting for a new purpose.

The bin was overflowing, but we happily donated our dozen pairs knowing they’d be put to good use & that we had just opened up a few spaces in the closet for fall boots–maybe an open-toed pair!  I can see wearing them while cooking the “New York Strip and Fall Vegetable Roast with Mustard Cream Sauce” recipe on page 82 of the October Bon Appetit–Ahhhh–fall flavors make my mouth water!
