Fall Farmer’s Market

Squash, corn, purple cauliflower, brussel sprouts, beans, beets, peppers, potatoes–I’m in vegetable nirvana at the local fall farmer’s market. After spending the summer baking sweet galettes and crisps with succulant marion berries, rhubarb, peaches, strawberries and blueberries, I’m ready for the earthy, savory vegetables of autumn. They just scream to be paired with pork or lamb. However, the fresh crab was calling, too.
I’ll admit it, I’m truly spoiled by the wealth of fresh local foods in Oregon and though we often take it for granted, sometimes I’m just blown away by the beauty of it–let alone the taste & fun times in the kitchen.
Our favorite berries come from Unger Farms–check out their web site at www.ungerfarms.com. I’ve been enthralled by farmer’s markets around the world, but really–there’s no place like home!
